Check-up & clean.

A routine check-up and clean is the simplest and most effective thing you can do to look after your teeth in the long term. It catches small problems before they become big ones, gives us a clear picture of what’s going on in your mouth, and leaves your teeth feeling clean and polished.

At your appointment, we will do a thorough visual examination, take X-rays where needed, and check your gums, soft tissues and bite. If we spot anything that needs attention, we will explain it clearly and discuss your options before any treatment goes ahead.

The clean itself uses a combination of scaling to remove hardened tartar and plaque, polishing, and a fluoride application where appropriate. You’ll leave with smooth, fresh teeth and a clear plan for keeping them that way until your next visit.

Oral hygiene education.

Most dental problems are preventable, and the difference between a healthy mouth and a problem mouth often comes down to a few small habits done consistently. The goal of our oral hygiene education is to help you understand exactly what’s happening in your own mouth, and what you can do at home to keep it healthy.

We will walk you through brushing and flossing technique, talk about which products are worth your money and which ones aren’t, and explain how diet and lifestyle factors affect your teeth. If there are areas you have been missing, or signs of early problems, we will show you exactly where and how to focus your attention.

Everyone’s mouth is different, so the advice you get from us will be tailored to what we actually see, not a generic checklist.

Veneers & smile makeovers.

If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about the appearance of your teeth, a smile makeover can be a genuinely life-changing piece of work. Veneers are thin layers of porcelain or composite resin bonded to the front of your teeth, used to improve the colour, shape, alignment or proportion of your smile.

The right approach depends on what you want to change and the condition of the underlying teeth. In some cases, a single composite veneer is all that’s needed to fix a chipped or discoloured tooth. In others, a full set of porcelain veneers across the front teeth can transform a smile completely.

Before any treatment starts, we will sit down and talk through what you’d like to achieve. We can show you examples, discuss the realistic outcomes, and put together a plan that suits both your goals and your budget. This is detailed work, and the planning stage is just as important as the treatment itself.

Implant treatment.

A dental implant is the closest modern dentistry can get to replacing a natural tooth. It involves a small titanium post being placed into the jawbone, which then acts as the foundation for a permanent crown sitting on top. Once integrated, an implant looks, functions and feels almost identical to a real tooth.

Implant treatment is suited to anyone with one or more missing teeth, or teeth that are beyond saving. The process is staged across several appointments and usually spans a few months, as the bone needs time to fuse with the implant before the final crown is placed. We will guide you through every step and let you know what to expect at each stage.

We have extensive experience with all of the major implant systems, including the full range of components, screwdrivers and instruments required to work confidently with whichever system suits your case best.

All-on-X implant bridges.

For patients who have lost most or all of their teeth in an arch, or are heading in that direction, an All-on-X implant bridge can be a genuinely transformative treatment. Rather than replacing each missing tooth with an individual implant, we use a small number of strategically placed implants, typically four or six, to support a full, fixed bridge across the upper or lower jaw.

The result is a complete, fixed set of teeth that look natural, feel stable, and let you eat, talk and smile with confidence again. Unlike traditional dentures, the bridge stays in place permanently and doesn’t need to be taken out for cleaning or sleeping.

It’s a significant treatment, and not the right answer for every situation, so we will go through your individual case in detail, talk about what’s realistic, and put together a plan that fits both your mouth and your budget.

Teeth whitening.

Tooth colour changes naturally over time, and many of the things we enjoy, including coffee, tea, red wine and certain foods, can speed that process up. Professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to lift your teeth back toward their natural brightness, with a result that looks fresh rather than artificial.

We offer in-chair whitening for fast results, and take-home whitening kits with custom-made trays for a more gradual finish. Both options use professional-strength whitening gels that are safer and more effective than the over-the-counter alternatives.

Before any whitening goes ahead, we will check the health of your teeth and gums and talk through what’s realistic to expect. The level of change varies from person to person, depending on the natural shade of your teeth and the type of staining, so we will set honest expectations up front.

Children's dentistry.

We are big believers in helping children build a positive relationship with the dentist early on. A good first experience makes a huge difference to how comfortable they will be with dental care for the rest of their lives, and that starts with a calm environment, plenty of explanation, and absolutely no pressure.

For most children, regular check-ups and cleans make up the bulk of what’s needed, alongside guidance on brushing, diet and general oral health habits. When treatment is required, we will explain everything in language children can understand, and take the time to make sure they feel safe and in control.

If your child needs more involved care, including fissure sealants, fillings, or guidance around baby teeth being lost, we will walk you both through the options and recommend what we’d do if they were our own.

White fillings.

A filling is one of the most common dental treatments, used to repair a tooth that has been damaged by decay or chipping. At Dental SOS, we exclusively use composite resin, a strong, tooth-coloured material that bonds directly to the tooth and blends in with the surrounding enamel.

We DO NOT use mercury-containing amalgam fillings, as we believe their use should now be a thing of the past. Composite resin is just as durable as amalgam for the vast majority of cases, looks far better, and contains no metal at all.

Most fillings can be completed in a single appointment. We will numb the area thoroughly, remove the damaged or decayed part of the tooth, and build it back up using composite resin matched to your natural tooth colour. The result is a strong, comfortable, and near-invisible repair.

Root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment is used to save a tooth where the nerve inside has become infected or damaged. While it has a reputation for being a painful treatment, modern techniques and effective anaesthetic mean the procedure itself is much more comfortable than most people expect, and the outcome is a tooth you can keep, rather than lose.

A full root canal is usually carried out across two or three appointments. We start by numbing the tooth, applying a rubber dam to keep the area clean, and accessing the infected root canals through the top of the tooth. The infected tissue is carefully removed, the canals are disinfected and shaped, and the inside of the tooth is sealed. The tooth is then restored with a strong, permanent filling, or a crown to protect it long-term.

If you’re in immediate pain from an infected tooth, we can also provide emergency root canal extirpation as part of our emergency service, which relieves the pressure and pain right away.

Wisdom teeth removal.

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to come through, and unfortunately they often arrive in mouths that simply don’t have the room to accommodate them. When that happens, they can cause pain, infection, decay in the teeth next door, or come through at an awkward angle that needs addressing.

We assess wisdom teeth individually. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out, and we will only recommend removal where it’s genuinely the right call. Where removal is needed, we will discuss the procedure with you in detail, including timing, what to expect afterwards, and your aftercare plan.

In some cases, a wisdom tooth is too deeply buried or sitting too close to other important structures for us to remove safely on site. If that’s the case, we will refer you to an oral surgeon and provide pain relief in the meantime.

Crowns.

A crown is a rigid, tooth-shaped cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its strength, shape and appearance. Crowns are typically used when a tooth has been heavily filled, fractured, or treated with root canal therapy, and is no longer strong enough to function with just a filling.

We use modern, tooth-coloured materials that look natural and feel just like a normal tooth. The process is usually carried out across two appointments. At the first, we prepare the tooth, take impressions, and fit a temporary crown. At the second, the final crown is bonded permanently in place.

A well-made crown can last for many years and is one of the most reliable ways to keep a structurally compromised tooth in service. We will walk you through the options in terms of materials and longevity, and recommend the right approach for your tooth.

Gum disease treatment.

Gum disease is one of the most common dental conditions in adults, and one of the most under-recognised. In its early stages (gingivitis), it shows up as bleeding gums when you brush or floss. Left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, which causes the gum and bone supporting your teeth to break down, and is the leading cause of adult tooth loss.

The good news is that gum disease is treatable, and the earlier we catch it, the better the outcome. Treatment usually starts with a detailed examination, X-rays where needed, and a deep cleaning to remove the tartar and bacteria sitting below the gum line. For more advanced cases, additional treatments may be needed, including localised antibiotics or a referral to a specialist.

Alongside the in-chair treatment, we will work with you on your at-home routine, because long-term success depends on keeping things consistent between appointments.

Emergency appointments.

For when something has gone wrong and you need help fast, our emergency service is open 365 days a year. Whether it’s a sudden toothache, a knocked-out tooth, a broken filling, or something you’re not quite sure how to describe, we will see you the same day and get you out of pain.
